Chloé Van Paris is the Artistic Director of Francis Dreyfus Music. She has selected the titles of more than thirty volumes of the Jazz Reference Collection, each selection confirming her intention of bringing to the forefront the strong influence of Broadway writer/composers on the history of jazz.
The crowning event of this adventure was the release of the album Broadway Melodies, an homage to the old Hollywood filmed musicals, as well as three important albums featuring the greatest musical composers: George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, Jerome Kern and Irving Berlin in which we find songs performed by the greatest jazz artists and the stars of stage and screen from the Golden Age of the musical comedy.
Chloé Van Paris is also a vintage music selector who likes blending the sounds of jazz, musicals, big bands, early rock’n’roll with the latest new wave, punk and mutant disco hits, creating sophisticated, glamorous acoustic ambiences. Some of these are for the evenings she organises in the most prestigious clubs in Paris. Channeling the somewhat naughty spirit of pre-WWII cabarets and the glamour of Hollywood clubs like the Coconut Grove, she intersperses her soirées with burlesque performances she sometimes stages herself.
When she is not playing at being the glamour girl of the DJs, she also writes a blog which resembles her exactly: at the cutting edge of today’s trends, yet finding inspiration principally in the works of the past. It is a delightful compendium of images, exciting, stimulating, mixing together all her obsessions: Hollywood glamour, the imaginary world of pinup girls, fetishism … in fact everything which deals with an ultra-glamourous and sexy universe.
